12100 Darnestown Road , North Potomac, MD 20878 - Phone 301.840.2483

Station 31 is the newest station in the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department. Originally located at Darnestown Rd and Shady Grove Rd, Station 31 moved to 12100 Darnestown Rd in 1989. Currently Station 31 houses Engine 311, Truck 31, Brush 315, Tanker 31 and Ambulance 319. Station 31 is also home to Montgomery County's Urban Search and Rescue Team, MD Task Force 1.

Located in Darnestown, Station 31 has a large and diverse area that it responds to. The first due response area covers consists of a wide variety of residential areas, from high rise apartment buildings, town houses, garden apartments to single family homes, as well as rural areas, the Potomac river and high tech office complexes.

Ranging from tight streets and row houses in the Kentlands and Lakelands neighborhoods, with residences ranging from Senior Care Facilities and garden apartments to houses, Station 31 must rapidly adapt from these city-like areas to rural fire protection at multi-million dollar homes without hydrant coverage. In addition to this, Station 31's first due is scattered with hazards including the Potomac River, Rockville Crushed Stone, Consumer Product Safety Commission, and numerous high speed roads, and dangerous intersections. Station 31 is staffed with personnel from the Montgomery County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
